For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in John. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.
THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN
6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. (John the Baptist's purpose was to let the people know that Jesus was going to appear, as you will see more of in verses 15-34. Matthew adds that a major role of John the Baptist was his message of repentance, which prepared people to recieve Jesus as their Savior. Matthew 3:2 says, “And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” He then said in Matthew 3:7-8, “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” When John the Baptist said, “Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” - he meant that if someone repented (or changed, with God’s help, and began to think and live the way God wants them to think and live), they will know it because they will begin to bear good fruit (becoming more holy in the way they live (They live a set-apart lifestyle similar to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) (Romans 6:22), sharing their material possessions (Romans 15:28), having Jesus' character traits (Galatians 5:22–23. see chapter 21 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), praising the Lord (Hebrews 13:15), answered prayer (1 John 5:14–15), and doing good works (Colossians 1:10)). 9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (If someone's heart is prepared to recieve Jesus (explained in chapters 16 and 8 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), they become a Christian when they believe that Jesus is their Savior.) 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
